2011 SWIM & TENNIS LESSONS - Signup Procedure:

LESSON SIGN-UPS:

Signups for Session 1 only of Swim Lessons AND Tennis Lessons* will begin on (May 14th at 11:00 am).  Each family present at 11:00 am (no need to arrive early and stand in line) will pick a number from a hat. The numbers given will depend on the families present at the appointed time, e.g., if 25 families are at the pool at 11:00 am, numbers 1 through 25 will be drawn; if 35 families are present, numbers 1 through 35 will be drawn, etc.

Members will be called to the front desk according to the number drawn. We will sign people up in sequence beginning with the person who drew number 1 until all numbers in the first group have been called. Others who arrive at the pool after the first wave will be asked to wait until the first wave families have completed their signups. Then we will draw numbers for the second group in the same manner as the first group. We will continue giving numbers out in groups until all members have had an opportunity to sign up for swimming and tennis lessons. Signups will be on a first come, first served basis after this first day of signups for each session.

PLEASE NOTE
New in 2011, while lesson sign-ups must still be in person, proxies will be allowed.  In such cases that a proxy is signing up for another family, the proxy must be over 16 years of age, may only be assigned one number, and only one number maybe be assigned per membership.  Please make sure that you, or your proxy (if applicable) come prepared.  We man need to ask registrants to step of of line if a registration is taking too much time. 

HALF SESSIONS
Half sessions are not available until the last session.  Those interested in half sessions must wait until August 1st (1 week prior to the start of Session 4) before signing up. 

NO REFUNDS
Please note that there are no refunds given for children that can only attend a half session during the first 3 sessions.

Lesson signups for Sessions 2, 3, and 4 will take place in the same manner as above, but beginning at 7:30am on June 27, July 11, and July 25, respectively.

   SWIM: July 25, 26, 27, 28 (Mon-Thu), Aug 1, 3, 4, 5 (Mon, Wed-Fri)

Session 4:

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
:

Starfish -- Level 1
Enter/exit pool on own; breathing bubbles; eyes open under water; let go of wall; kicking on wall; head under water; supported back float; attempt tummy float; push off wall with kick; jump in; kick on board.
Guppy -- Level 2
Pencil (streamline push-off) with kick; submerged face and bubbles; tummy float with twist to back; crawl stroke on wall with head up/down; crawl swim with head down (5-10 yards); back float with kick, using board; back push-off without water in nose.
Sea Otter -- Level 3
Sitting and kneeling dive; bubble arm/breathing arm; swim with side breathing (10 yards); retrieve object (shallow end); jump in
(assist to wall); elementary backstroke.
Dolphin -- Level 4
Wall dive; beginning block dive; butterfly kick, breathing, dive and glide; backstroke kick, thumb recovery, touch cheek/ear, and pinky entry; breaststroke kick, arms, breathing andglide; freestyle kick and side breathing.
Shark -- Level 5
Streamlined push-off; freestyle flip turns; breast and fly turns; wall and block dive; butterfly dive, little kick and every-other breathing; backstroke stationary head and follow-through; breaststroke circle stroke (elbows not past ribs); freestyle follow-through, rotation and alternate breathing.
Frog -- Swim Team Stroke Class
Open to swim team members only; in-depth stroke, racing starts and flip turn instruction.

Children will be promoted to the next level of lessons when they have completed the skills for the level in which they are enrolled.
 

SWIM LESSON FEES:  $35 per session for members and $50 per session for wait listed non-members.

 
TENNIS LESSONS - 2011

PLEASE NOTE:    All lesson sign ups (no exceptions please) must be approved by Peter or the tennis coaches.  If you are not sure which class your child belongs in and can not be at lesson sign up on the first day to talk to the coaches, please contact Peter before signing up.   Thank you for helping Peter and the coaches maintain the integrity of the classes at each level.

7:55 – 8:40.......... ADVANCED BEGINNER
8:40 – 9:25..........  BEGINNER
9:30 – 10:15........  ADVANCED BEGINNER
10:15 – 10:30......  BREAK
10:30– 11:15.......  ADVANCED
11:15 – 12:00......  INTERMEDIATE
12:00 – 12:45......  BEGINNER
12:45 – 1:30......... LITTLE TENNIS

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
:

Little Tennis or Tiny Tots (ages 3-6):  Basics of tennis starting with "What is a racquet and ball?!"
Beginner:  Teaches basic understanding of forehand, backhand, serves, and scoring. 
Advanced Beginner:    Apply knowledge of beginning skills by playing singles and doubles.  The volley and the overhead will be taught.
Intermediate:  Students will learn the various spins of the ground strokes and serve, as well as various strategies of singles and doubles.

Advanced:  Students analyze their ability levels by working on their strokes and learning advanced strategies for tournament play.  Topics include mental toughness, stroke analysis and advanced strategies.
Adults:  Please contact Peter Reni if you are interested in setting up group adult lessons.
